    Title: Emil & the Detectives
    Author: Erich Kastner
    Origin: Germany
    Story line:
Emil is a boy who lives in Neustadt. He is ordinary and works very hard for his mother but hates being called a mummy’s boy. One day, he was sent to Berlin for a holiday. But then - disaster struck! - Emil’s money is stolen! Perhaps it’s something to do with the man in the bowler hat who was the only one in his compartment. He gives Emil some chocolate and gets off just as Emil wakes up….and discovers his money has been stolen.

” I thought this book brilliant although it did tend to go on a bit at the end after the mystery was solved!”
    My rating: 5/5

    Emil and the Detectives
I liked it when all the boys surrounded the thief and he had no where to go. My favourite part of the book was when Emil was on the train and the thief was acting very suspiciously. It made me want to read more and more. I would recommend this book to children who like mysteries and spying. I liked it because it was exciting when interesting things came up in the book. The characters had funny nicknames. I was a bit shocked when Emil’s mum let him go on a train on his own.

That dirty rotten thief. Don’t you just wonder what thief is always up to in the book?

Good book, good author. I liked the theme, where it’s set and who recommended it, Michael rosen (legend!!!). My favourite character has to be the professor, it’s like he’s real and not in the book. He is clever, funny and well cool.

I would recommend this book because its 10/10!!!

I liked this book because it was really exciting finding out the mystery and you didn’t know what was going to happen untill you found out. My favourite part was Emil, the main character, having his reward for solving the mystery. But I think it’s a really good book because it’s so interesting. My favourite character is Pony, Emil’s cousin, because she is very kind to Emil and his friends. I would recommend this book to anyone who really likes reading mystery books and every chapter you read persuades you to read further because it’s so exciting. I would give this book 10 out of 10.

I think that it was great because it was a mystery book and you don’t know what’s going to happen. There isn’t any bad bit in it, it’s all too good.I would recommend this book to people who like mystery books. You don’t really know who has stolen the money. It’s not that hard to read but it’s not that easy. My favourite bit was when the children surrounded the guy called Grundeis. I would give this book 10 out of 10. READ IT!!

Emil and the detectives is a fantastic book. When I first started to read it, I was so tempted to take off the tape that the teacher put on the book. It was awesome! My favourite part was when all of the boys surrounded Grundeis and when Krumm tripped him up. My favourite character, that was very hard to choose, was Little Tuesday because he was always passing on messages which is cool! I love this book and I would definitely recommend it.
